
Millionbøf with Mashed Potatoes
Danish weeknight shorthand for minced beef in a deep onion gravy, ladled over buttery mash. Cheap, fast, and endlessly repeatable.

- potatoes36 oz
- yellow onion1½ piece
- carrot2 piece
- beef broth32 tbsp
- all-purpose flour4 tbsp
- butter4 tbsp
- whole milk16 tbsp
- fresh parsley8 sprig
- salt2 tsp
- black pepper1 tsp

Method
Boil peeled, cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, 18 minutes.

Brown beef hard in a dry pan without stirring, 6 minutes, until crusted.
7 min · fry
Add sliced onion and grated carrot, cook until the onion softens, 5 minutes.
5 min · saute
Stir flour through the pan, then pour in broth and simmer 6 minutes.
7 min · simmer
Mash potatoes with warm milk and butter. Season until it tastes of something.
4 min · prep
Spoon gravy over the mash and finish with parsley.

Serving suggestion
A spoonful of tart lingonberry or redcurrant on the side is the traditional partner.
